It's More Than Just an Idea

We are all driven by something. Whether it’s to be the best version of yourself, trying to get that big promotion at work or simply trying to make the world a better place, we are all working to accomplish something or to inspire innovation. The tech world is currently flourishing with innovative ideas and advancements…and those ideas all had to start somewhere. See what some of the most influential and innovative people in the tech industry have to say about the truth behind success. Hint: hard work, dedication and respect go a long way!

Jeff Bezos

It’s taking over our world and the way we shop… it’s Amazon! Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, knows that the customer comes first. Without happy customers, Amazon wouldn’t be the one-stop shopping giant it is today. Bezos claims that loyal customers are what drive success and they should be treated with care and value. He says, “We see our customers as invited guests to a party, and we are the hosts. It’s our job every day to make every important aspect of the customer experience a little better.”

Virginia “Ginny” Rometty

IBM’s CEO, Virginia Rometty, is one tough lady who is looking to shake up the tech world as the first woman to lead IBM Technologies. Ginny believes continuous transformation is the golden key to staying on top and remaining innovative. She states, “The only way you survive is you continuously transform into something else. It’s this idea of continuous transformation that makes you an innovative company.”

Steve Jobs

Without having a true passion to ignite a spark in all that you do, there is no way you’re going to truly succeed. Steve Jobs, creator of Apple, puts things into perspective by telling us that true success happens when you love what you do. “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking and don’t settle.”

Elon Musk

From self-driving cars to creating a colony on Mars, he has a wild imagination and a vision for a futuristic world. Elon Musk, creator of Tesla, just like Steve Jobs, believes in the power of passion. How are you going to create something if you don’t have a true passion for it? He states, “People should pursue what they’re passionate about. That will make them happier than pretty much anything else.”

Larry Ellison

We’ve talked about putting the customer first… but what about employees? Without dedicated employees, you can’t take your company to new levels. Larry Ellison, founder of Oracle knows the importance of treating employees with respect. A good company not only treats their customers well, but also their employees (one of the most valuable assets of a company). Larry states, “Taking care of your employees is extremely important and very, very visible.”

It's clear that there are a few reoccurring themes to success: one, you must have passion; and two, the way in which you treat your customers and your employees.

Now that we have gone through some of the most innovative and inspiring people revving up the tech world, it’s clear that there are a few reoccurring themes to success.
